Complicated by alexandramanukyan Complicated by alexandramanukyan
'Complicated' 18"X36" oil on canvas. 2011 by
Alexandra Manukyan

Synopsis:
Struggling to shoulder the weight of expectations from all around her, she wrestles with the specters of asserting her own self identity. Lover, daughter, rebel, or conformist, she assumes all attire and attitudes each role demands; and in the course of attempting to fulfill the expectations of others she becomes twisted and distorted by the gnarled complexities of false facades.

Her pose perfectly suits the synopsis and it is so true - how her body is doubled over, weary from her struggles, but her face retains that expression of strength and confidence of a true leader.
Lovely choice of colors for her clothes ... makes me think of cotton candy or sweet tarts.

I love the pose and expression on her face! You've captured it perfectly from the gears around her face, to the softness and lightness of the fabric bunched around her. I love it! You're a brilliant artist!
